Third
My artist report is about Jim Henson, born James Maury Henson in Greenville, Mississippi on September 24, 1936. Jim Henson is the creator of the Muppets and had a large influence in the modern children's series "sesame street." He attended the University of Maryland, College Park. Jim Henson's career started when he took a trip to Washington DC to perform with Kermit the frog on the "Sam and Friends" show, which was a late night puppet show that played after the 11:00 news. In 1979 "The Muppet Show" was created, this was a HUGE step for Jim Henson, seeing as it was an instant hit. Three years later, Jim Henderson wrote and directed "The Dark Crystal" which was a fantasy movie based on another planet. The Dark Crystal is a movie that people still enjoy to this day. a year after The Dark Crystal was created, Jim Henson came out with another smash TV series called "Fraggle Rock". Fraggle Rock was a TV series designed to appeal to as many different cultural groups as it could. Jim had 5 children. He died all to soon on May 16, 1990. Walking pneumonia was the cause of his death. He was so concerned with not burdening his family that by the time he went to see a doctor about it, it was too late. Jim Henson surely was an influential figure in puppetry and modern creative processes alike.
